Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Java

Stop At: Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, Asrikaton – Pakis, Malang 65100 Indonesia
Meals at Day – 1: lunch and dinner.

4 hours driving trip starting from Bali South, through North Ubud, Bedugul, Munduk, Seririt, Pemuteran to Gilimanuk, the port on the East of Bali, where ferries leave for Java.

The crossing takes about 1 hour.

After arriving at Banyuwangi (Java port), we drive about 2 hours before lunch (Javanese and Indonesian food).

From there, we drive about 4 hours (with the pick up possibility at Probolinggo railway station around 4 / 5 pm) to reach the village of Bromo (2300m altitude), after the dinner in a warung (traditional Indonesian restaurant) we will spend the night in a homestay simple but clean (with hot water), ATTENTION very cold nights!

Day 2: Meeting the Bromo

Stop At: Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, Asrikaton – Pakis, Malang 65100 Indonesia
Meals at Day-2: Breakfast, lunch, dinner to-go.

Our journey begins with a 3:30 a.m. wake-up call and departure aboard an off-road 4×4 jeep. We will climb to the top of the Tenger-Bromo caldera to reach the “King-Kong” viewpoint (altitude of 2,650 m.)

At the viewpoint platform, we will witness a stunning sunrise over the following volcanoes:

Bromo (active, altitude of 2,300 m)

Batok (dormant, altitude of 2,400 m)

Semeru (active and erupting, altitude of 3,677 m, the tallest volcano in Java)

After enjoying the beautiful view (and depending on the weather conditions), we will cross the “sea of sand” (mostly made up of the volcanic ashes and debris of prior eruptions) and head to the sacred Hindu temples at the foot of the spectacular Bromo and Batok volcanoes.

Day 3: Conquering the Kawah Ijen

Stop At: Ijen Crater, Banyuwangi 68454 Indonesia
At 1 am, our professional guide (Hary, Pour, or 1 of the 5 guides from Indotravelteam) will lead you to the top of the crater Kawah Ijen volcano. 1h30 of ascent, one hour of those is quite intense. Then you will descend to the crater of the volcano, discover the nature’s miracle – blue flames, and the sunrise under the biggest acid lake in the world, unforgettable moment… With a respirator that protects you from sulfuric vapors, you are at the heart of the crater which is a unique sensation!

So, you are in the crater which is also a “Sulfur mine” where the workers are exploiting the sulfur. You will witness the enormous courage of those men (miners and bearers) who live by the extraction of this sulfur (used for pharmacology and cosmetology).

After this magic moment we are back to the base camp, then, after about 20 minutes of a road, we will enjoy a local breakfast in a Javanese family.

Then we go from Java to Bali by ferry (the crossing takes about 1 hour). From Gilimanuk (Bali) we arrive at our starting point in Seminyak after about 4 hours of drive, and that will be the end of our adventure.
