LooLa Virtual Eco Journey

Kota Tanjung Pinang Trip Overview

Founded by two teachers and run by fully local staff, LooLa went on to become the world’s most decorated Eco resort, including World #1 Responsible Tourism Operator (London 2015)

One of the wonders of travel is the chance to experience new environments, perspectives and cultures. Our guests always tell us that one the highlights of visiting LooLa is getting to know our staff or the families you supported in a development project.

Here is the great news: you can keep on doing this, COVID or not!
Select a UN SDG close to your heart – then choose an e-journey that gives life to that goal within a budget that is comfortable for you.
Support a local family, plant mangrove trees, study solar energy, deliver safe sanitation, recycle plastic, … make it a short and powerful journey, or embark on a long-lasting journey together with local people, using (live) digital connections – and develop deep and lasting friendships along the way.

Itinerary

Go travel, do good!
Pay for one, travel with many!

LooLa’s staff will introduce you via live Skype video call to a local family, and you’ll get a chance to really get to know them: Learn what it means to live on € 150 household income per month, learn what life means when water doesn’t flow from the tap, learn what are their dreams and hopes for the future, but also learn what makes Indonesians the most optimistic people on the planet!
Then decide together on a project to improve their homes and see it come to life in the weeks to follow!

One example is to help with a Safe Water Garden (SWG, a lifelong lifesaving sanitation system), see them build it (via Skype) and check in with them every few weeks to advance the world’s sanitation knowledge. One of the things we don’t yet understand well is this: some families manage to grow chilli (considered a huge benefit) and some don’t. Can you help find out why this is so? By getting to know the family you help, you can ask questions and find out! If you do, you are making a global impact because your findings will inform the next generation of SWGs.
