Kota Yogyakarta Trip Overview
Houses at butuh village are surrounded by coconut trees and the villager produce the palm sugar, they started from 9 am after back from the local market. They take out the concentrate (called nira) of the coconut flower (called manggar) as arrow material of the palm sugar then it is heated and stirred on the pan with wooden fire during 2 hours. As if to keep the nature through the stirring, the house family welcomes to see the making process, even try to involve.
While we are waiting for the boiling process, we will have batik class. It takes around 2 hours, the good news is we do not use fabric but wooden craft (mask or puppet). It is very unique, as we know that mostly batik made on fabric.
At the end you will bring home the result.
