What to see at Ubud Monkey Forest
The Ubud Monkey Forest is known for its conservation efforts. Research and studies are regularly carried out for observing the monkeys’ health, diet and breeding habits. You can see these playful primates in their natural habitat, swinging through canopies, and feeding on bananas.
The forest also has several ancient temples with guardian statues covered in moss. Popular sites include the 14th-century Pura Dalem Agung Padangtegal and Pura Prajapati, which is dedicated to village funerals. Relics and statues are under dense foliage with little sunlight, resulting in a mysterious and ancient vibe.

Tegallang rice terrace
Tegallalang Rice Terraces in Ubud is famous for its beautiful scenes of rice paddies involving the subak (traditional Balinese cooperative irrigation system), which according to history, was passed down by a revered holy man named Rsi Markandeya in the eighth century. Tegallalang forms the three most splendid terraced landscapes in Ubud’s shared region, with the others being in the villages of Pejeng and Campuhan.

Tegenungan Waterfall
Tegenungan Waterfall is not situated in the mountains, which is quite rare for waterfalls in Bali, but actually in Ubud village. Like many others, it still boasts beautiful lush greenery all around (and the added bonus of a beautiful temple nearby), and the natural springs are perfect for bathing. The water flow is heavy, leaving it clean and fresh, so you’ll no doubt spot plenty of locals flocking here each day to enjoy a swim or refreshing bath. And for any budding photographers out there, you’ll want to know that the best time to visit Tegenungan Waterfall is during the evening, since its west-facing location captures the beautiful afternoon light.
