Pura Luhur Lempuyang is one of Bali’s oldest and most highly regarded temples. It is also believed to predate the majority of Hindu temples on the island, and the six holiest places of worship on Bali.
The entire landscape looks very picturesque from this temple gate, and that gate also known to the western world as “The Gates of Heaven”.

The Tirta Gangga royal water garden is a cool retreat in the eastern highlands of the Karangasem regency in East Bali. Stop At: Kusamba Traditional Salt Mining, Manggis Indonesia
At Kusamba Beach, you’ll find the salt farmers repetitively fetching seawater in palm leaf buckets on carrying poles, then splashing them out onto the smoothened black sand under the scorching sun. The salt begins to crystallise after several hours of drying. The salt crystals are then scraped off, collected and brought inside huts for the filtration processes. Besides witnessing the techniques, you can also bargain for and purchase packets of salt directly from the farmers for very reasonable prices.
